Extinction Arrives at Blackgang Chine
We are thrilled to announce that Extinction arrives at Blackgang Chine in time to celebrate our 180th Anniversary – yes, we are the oldest theme park in the UK!
We reopened our gates on March 25, where guests had the first chance to experience our hair-raising pendulum swing that reaches heights of 18 meters, almost double the height of the Smuggler!
Thanks to Blackgangs unique coastal location, the positioning of Extinction will give guests an unforgettable immersive experience with its unparalleled views of the back of the Isle of Wight. Extinction is the marker of a new era for Blackgang Chine, the largest of the rides within the park, and it’s a thrilling addition to their well-loved program.
The ride throws its passengers, full of anticipation, through full 360-degree vertical rotations, creating the sensation that you’re about to be catapulted off Blackgang’s cliffs and into the sea. Riders will have the chance to take in the breathtaking views across the Channel, which they can enjoy in the brief moments between screaming. Although that view may be upside down…

‘Extinction’ was designed and built by Zamperla, a leading manufacturer of amusement rides based in Italy. Zamperla has a reputation for creating some of the world’s most innovative and exciting rides, and ‘Extinction’ is no exception.
