What is the Blackgang Express?
The Blackgang Express is a gentle family train ride at Blackgang Chine.
Riders climb aboard and travel through scenes inspired by Blackgang Chine’s past, spotting dinosaurs, cavemen and familiar characters from the park’s long and colourful story.
It’s been designed as a ride the whole family can enjoy, with plenty to look out for along the way. Whether you’re visiting with little ones for the first time or you grew up coming to Blackgang Chine yourself, there are lots of details to spot as you journey around the track.
Where is the Blackgang Express at Blackgang Chine?
You’ll find the Blackgang Express behind Blackgang Beach, adding even more to an area that has quickly become a favourite spot for families.
This part of the park already has plenty to explore, including nearby rides such as Shipwrecked and Waterforce, as well as attractions including the Hall of Mirrors and the Whale Room.
It’s also a brilliant place to pause during your day. There’s plenty of seating, fantastic seascape views and treats available from iScream, making it a great spot for families to gather, refuel and enjoy the atmosphere.
Is the Blackgang Express suitable for young children?
Yes, the Blackgang Express is a gentle family ride and is ideal for younger children.
The ride has a 90cm height restriction, so children must be at least 90cm tall to ride. It’s designed to be a more relaxed experience, making it a great choice for little adventurers building confidence with theme park rides.
There is also a seating area around the station, so parents and family members can watch the ride and enjoy the setting.
Is the Blackgang Express a new ride?
The Blackgang Express is a newly refurbished ride that has been completely stripped back and brought back to life.
The ride has a fresh new scheme and theme, a beautifully built station and a storyline that celebrates Blackgang Chine’s past. It’s a new experience for visitors this season, while also giving a nod to the history and characters that long-time Blackgang Chine fans know and love.
When does the Blackgang Express open?
The Blackgang Express opens to the public on Saturday 23 May.
Its opening also marks the start of Wild West Week, running from Saturday 23 May to Saturday 30 May, with western-themed entertainment taking over the park for half term.
That means there’s even more reason to visit, with a brand-new ride to experience and a full week of themed family fun.
